Ben \u00e7ocukken, ahlak\u0131, birtak\u0131m ya\u015fl\u0131 ba\u015fl\u0131, sakall\u0131, b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde de dindar insanlar\u0131n, \u201cBunu yapma, bu ay\u0131p, bu g\u00fcnah, bu yasak\u201d diye kafam\u0131za sokmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131klar\u0131 ve bizim ya\u015fama sevincimizi ortadan kald\u0131ran, bizi o g\u00fczelim \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcm\u00fczden ve hayat\u0131m\u0131zdan al\u0131koyan, hayat\u0131 kurutucu ve tepeden inme birtak\u0131m kurallar olarak g\u00f6r\u00fcrd\u00fcm.<\/p>\n<p>Okuduk\u00e7a, ahlak\u0131n b\u00f6yle hac\u0131 hoca tak\u0131m\u0131n\u0131n veya ya\u015flanm\u0131\u015f, gen\u00e7li\u011finde her t\u00fcrl\u00fc ahlaks\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131 yap\u0131p, sonra ahlak \u00fczerine nutuk atan, vaaz veren insanlar\u0131n tekelinde olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131, ahlak\u0131n asl\u0131nda bir ya\u015fama problemi oldu\u011funu anlad\u0131m. \u00c7ok ilgin\u00e7, ahlak, belki bir anlamda, bir ya\u015fama m\u00fchendisli\u011finden ba\u015fka bir \u015fey de\u011fil. \u201cNas\u0131l ya\u015fayaca\u011f\u0131m, insan gibi nas\u0131l ya\u015fayaca\u011f\u0131m, nas\u0131l insan gibi insan olaca\u011f\u0131m, nas\u0131l g\u00fczel insan olaca\u011f\u0131m? Nas\u0131l g\u00fczel, adil, zulm\u00fcn ve s\u00f6m\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fcn daha az oldu\u011fu bir d\u00fcnyada daha g\u00fczel bir insan olarak ya\u015fayaca\u011f\u0131m?\u201d sorular\u0131n\u0131n tart\u0131\u015f\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 alan diye anlamak gerekti\u011fini d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcyorum.<\/p>\n<p>Son zamanlarda m\u00fchendislik odalar\u0131n\u0131n zaman zaman \u00e7a\u011fr\u0131s\u0131yla yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131m konu\u015fmalarda, \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131z bilgesinin, bilge insan\u0131n\u0131n m\u00fchendisten \u00e7\u0131kabilece\u011fi gibi bir iddiam olmu\u015ftu. Tek tek m\u00fchendisler olarak okuldan mezun olmu\u015fken, hi\u00e7bir g\u00fcc\u00fcm\u00fcz yok ki. Bir i\u015fe girmek, ge\u00e7imimiz kazanmak zorunday\u0131z. O i\u015fi, o d\u00fczeni y\u00f6neten patronlar var ve bunlar\u0131n bilgelikle falan hi\u00e7 ilgisi yok; bu d\u00fczeni s\u00f6m\u00fcrmeye, bu d\u00fczende olabildi\u011fince \u00e7ok kazan\u00e7 elde etmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan ve bu kazan\u00e7lar\u0131 i\u00e7in de herkesi s\u00f6m\u00fcrmeye haz\u0131r insanlar. D\u00fczenin t\u00fcm\u00fcne bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z zaman, durumun vahim oldu\u011funu g\u00f6r\u00fcyoruz.<\/p>\n<p>Ama \u015f\u00f6yle bir sorun da var: \u201cD\u00fczen b\u00f6yle, ben ne yapay\u0131m?\u201d d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesi de, d\u00fczene teslim olmak i\u00e7in bir bahane olmaya ba\u015fl\u0131yor. Abartmak da de\u011fil, belki hakk\u0131n\u0131 vermek.<\/p>\n<p>E\u011fer \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131z\u0131n bilgeleri m\u00fchendis olacaksa -ki, m\u00fchendis olaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcyorum- birka\u00e7 gerek\u00e7em var. Eski \u00e7a\u011flar\u0131n bilgeleri, sakall\u0131, ya\u015fl\u0131 ba\u015fl\u0131, oturdu\u011fu yerden kalkmayan, b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde dini k\u00f6kenli ve a\u011fz\u0131ndan ilahi laflar \u00e7\u0131kan insanlarm\u0131\u015f. Ama \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131z m\u00fchendisinin donan\u0131m\u0131na bakt\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z zaman, hem do\u011fa bilimleriyle ha\u015f\u0131r ne\u015firdir, hem bunun matematiksel modellemesini yapabilir. Ayr\u0131ca uygulamaya y\u00f6nelik oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in, pratik becerisi, uyguama, ortaya \u00e7\u0131karma, tasarlama,im\u00e2l etme zek\u00e2s\u0131n\u0131n olmas\u0131 gerek. Teknoloji insan ya\u015fam\u0131yla ilgili oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in, toplumu, k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc, ekonomiyi, piyasay\u0131, y\u00f6netimi bilmesi zorunlu.<\/p>\n<p>Neyi bilirsek bilelim, matematiksel bilgide, teknolojik bilgide, ara\u015ft\u0131rmayla ilgili bilgide, t\u00fcm bu bilgileri i\u015flerken, tavr\u0131m\u0131zda etik duyarl\u0131l\u0131k olmas\u0131 laz\u0131m. \u201cBen bu bilgiyi ni\u00e7in biliyorum, ni\u00e7in m\u00fchendis oluyorum? M\u00fchendis olaca\u011f\u0131m da ne olacak? B\u00fct\u00fcn bu bilgiler ne ad\u0131nad\u0131r? Ben ni\u00e7in var\u0131m? M\u00fchendis olmak ne demektir?\u201d Birinci s\u0131n\u0131fta etik dersi verdi\u011finiz \u00e7ocu\u011fun m\u00fchendislik anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131, kavray\u0131\u015f\u0131 bilinci ne kadar olabilir, o da tart\u0131\u015fmal\u0131d\u0131r. Benzer problem t\u0131p fak\u00fcltelerinde de var. Birinci s\u0131n\u0131fta deontoloji dersi okutuyorlar doktorlara; ama daha doktorlu\u011fun ne oldu\u011funu bilmeden, \u201cT\u00fcrk\u00e7e dersi gibi, devrim tarihi gibi bir \u015feydir ve palavrad\u0131r\u201d diye ge\u00e7ip gidiyor \u00e7ocuk.
